Jorge Lorenzo underwent his debut season with Repsol Honda in 2019. According to him, Marc Marquez is a rival who is more difficult to fight than Valentino Rossi.
Long before moving to Honda, Lorenzo spent seven seasons as Rossi's tandem at Yamaha. The result, Lorenzo three times higher than Rossi, including when winning the world title twice in 2010 and 2015.
While in this season Lorenzo will start his competition with Marquez, the defending champion. Since entering the primary class in 2013, the Spanish rider has been difficult to stop after winning five of the last six seasons.
Lorenzo realized that he was not the favorite of champions in this season because he was still adapting to the Honda motorbike. Even so, Lorenzo hopes to meet expectations.
"My hope is Marquez will be a teammate that is easier than Rossi, but the reality is quite different," Lorenzo said reported by GPOne. "It will be harder against Marc, because of his speed, his aggression, and his hunger."
"He is still 26 years old, he is a world champion and he knows his motorbike much better than me. But in MotoGP, anything is possible and there will always be lots of surprises. Surely I'm not a favorite but I hope I'll be a surprise."
